You just installed Elle, and are excited to start receiving text messages. You go to test your Elle buttons, and nothing happens! You followed the guides, and yet it's not working! Here is a guide to troubleshooting your Elle install.
Step 1: Check the head code
In order for Elle to function, a snippet of code must be placed in the head of each page Elle operates on. A common problem is that the code is installed without changing the Org ID. You can find out more about installing the head code here:
Step 2: Check your button HTML
An Elle button can be placed anywhere: on an image, a word, a link. The two necessary HTML elements on any Elle button are the data-toggle="elle" and data-elle-button="Elle-button-id"
If your button isn't working, make sure that both of these are present.
You can find a sample button in this article:
Another common problem is for the Elle button ID to be incorrect. The button id is the string of characters that start with "ebtn_...". It was provided to you at the start of your onboarding, and if you're not sure where it is, your Account Manager can provide it.
To check it, compare the Elle button ID on your website to the one given to you by your Account Manager. They should be identical.
